Author bio
My name is Eliza Keating,I was born in Glasgow Scotland, but moved as a child to the new town of East kilbride were I still live and work.I have two children ages twenty two and seven. Folk of Feodora’s lane was initially wrote for my young daughter. I felt the need to write this piece to really just thank every one . As many of you may know my novel Folk of Feodora’s lane has now been published.I hope from the bottom of my heart that many of the truly talented writers out there experience the feeling of searching on amazon only to see your name and your book come up on their listing’s,i realize that there are many established authors that have so much talent they may just take this in their stride, but i am not one of them,as i have explained in an earlier article on my writers network page ..its just me
..The sense of achievement I feel is incredible.I am a average person..nothing special, who to most people never achieved much in my life, although for me the birth of my two amazing children was an almost miraculous achievement in itself ,but to most i am a non descript type which is fine ,some people have asked me in almost disbelief..Eliza is it TRUE you have written a book.I am finding the experience of answering very uncomfortable,it feels as if i am exposing a part of me ,when they ask, it honestly feels as if i have been stripped naked in front of everyone who has ever known me,silly I know but that’s …just me…
The other funny and surprising event that has occurred in this self exposure is this, when potential buyers look up my book on amazon ,they have all mailed me the same lovely comment ..Hi Eliza..great news on Folk of Feodora’s lane..seen you author profile on amazon .you look so different from what I expected..This leaves me thinking will people now judge me on what I look like..would I have been better leaving my profile faceless..its that exposing myself again, all that lack of confidence getting in the way again and again, honestly I’m such a worrier, surely my book will sell on its on merits..here’s hoping
Anyway a thousand thanks to everyone who has supported me on this adventure..
If there is ever anything i can help any of you with regarding the pit falls of publishing do not hesitate to pm me ,i will try in time to reply to every message i receive …thank you once again

Congratulations on your book. I also would be thrilled if my name and book appeared on amazon.com. I have always loved telling stories to the children and often thought and writing some and illustrating them as well. But I have no idea how to write for particular age groups. Any suggestions? Thanks for visiting my blog. Hugs, pat

Thank you for the encouragement…the best advice about how to write for kids and determining age group..is to read as many kids books as you can…and then slot your own ideas into that category…Thank you Eliza

Eliza – Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and click like. I am working on my second children’s story tentatively titled “Fire Mountain.” The first story is titled “Rainbow Reef” and is self-published. I have three printings. The first two were one hundred copies each and the third printing is five hundred copies. I have sold about 100 copies and I give many away…part promotion and part because it is nice to get feedback. So, if you would like a copy, send me a post box number or mailing address and I would be happy to send you one.
I visited your blog and enjoyed what I have read so far. It seems like getting published is about half the battle (way to go) and getting readers is the other. I wish you success in getting the book out to readers. Thanks again, HEK

Eliza,
So glad to hear of your publishing success… I too have dreams of publishing a children’s book. Perhaps it’s why I write about children. Your description of your reaction to being a published author sounds so very much like what I would imagine it to be. Uncomfortable, thrilling, vulnerable, exposed, exhilarating. I must say, your name lends itself very well to being an author. “Eliza” reminds me of Jane Austen’s characters, and Keating is almost Keats! Congratulations, and thanks for reading my blog!

Eliza,
What a treat to find this blog. We’ve got a lot in common…grown children and young children (grandbabes, in my case). Also, being published writers who depend on our “day jobs”. Only mine is a night job. Vampire hours for me.
Thank you for visiting and I’m so happy to know where to find you.
Keep writing!

It is truly amazing how much you can put of yourself into a book. I know that feeling when you see your title on Amazon.com. Now just wait when you’ve got two titles or more. Searching for your time is so much fun. 😉 It’s awesome to be able to see a list of titles under your name.
I also really enjoyed your poem. Are you planning a poetry book? Some of the best books are Indie Authors right now. Really enjoy the hunt for a new book. Glad to have found your blog. Thanks for stopping by mine. Keep that writing going! You’ll surprise yourself with what you can do.
